A plaintiff in the case involving former staff of the National Communication Authority (NCA) have petitioned for the recusal of Justice Eric Kyei Baffour over what they describe as a possible unfair judgement from his Lordship who is handling the case.

The former Board Chairman of the NCA, Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie’s, request comes after some utterances levelled against the Judge by social media commentator Kevin Ekow Taylor.

Taylor, in a video on Facebook, alleged that Justice Kyei-Baffuor, an Appeal Court judge, was promoted merely because he was doing the bidding of Akufo-Addo’s government in the trial of some five people accused of embezzling $4 million belonging to the National Communications Authority (NCA).

The outspoken activist further accused the judge of been influenced by high profile government and non-government individuals in the determination of the outcome of the NCA case.

In the petition copied to GhanaWeb, Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie prayed that the Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah to recuse the sitting Judge on the bases that these “allegations by Kevin Taylor against the justice Eric Kyei Baffour are verifiable through an investigation that can be conducted by your lordship”

Baffoe-Bonnie added; “throughout the proceedings, his Lordship Mr Justice Eric Kyei Baffour has openly demonstrated his bias, prejudice and interest in the proceedings by deferring to the prosecution’s preferred manner for conducting the case even in the face of valid objections to such action by the prosecution and above all showing defiant and unacceptable hostility to my defense lawyers anytime my lawyers insist on any right to which I am entitled.”

“Your Lordship I will just state that the documented incidents which justify my present petition to you humbly requesting your urgent intervention,” the petition stated.

Meanwhile, Justice Eric Kyei Baffour, has issued an arrest warrant directed at the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the National Security and the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), to arrest social media commentator, Kelvin Taylor.

He’s to be presented in court to answer why he should not be committed to jail for his derogatory comments about him, Justice Eric Kyei Baffour.

This comes after the social media commentator in an episode of his social media video reportage called “With All Due Respect” picked on the Court of Appeal Judge, Justice Eric Kyei Baffour, and made several allegations against him.

“Justice Eric Kyei Baffour was hurriedly promoted from a High Court Judge to a Court of Appeal Judge. I can say on authority that Justice Kyei Baffour is operating on the orders of President Akufo-Addo and the National Security Minister Kan Dapaah. This is why the case of the former NCA board members was jumped straight to the Commercial Court to Kyei Baffour so that he will execute government agenda. This is basic. With all due respect, my fellow Ghanaians, Justice Kyei Baffour is seriously doing the bidding of the President and more importantly the bidding of the National Security Minister, Mr. Kan Dapaah,” Kelvin Taylor said.
