CJA On Stand Up For Ghana Campaign

NEWS RELEASE

BY Committee For Joint Action (CJA) On Stand Up For Ghana Campaign

The Committee for Joint Action (CJA) wishes to salute all Ghanaians who have so far signed on to the campaign to increase the nation’s stake in the Jubilee Oil Fields. As part of the CJA’S efforts to deepen public understanding of the issues surrounding Kosmos’ intended sale of its shares in the Jubilee field to ExxonMobil and the adverse ramifications this holds for our national interests, we wishes to outline a number of events to be held in the coming days to achieve this objective.

Among these events are an expansion of the signature campaign under which more books will be made available at different locations within the country to enable Ghanaians from all walks of life to sign on. In about a week’s time, a public forum will be held in Takoradi at which various speakers will discuss with the people of the Western Region the need to preserve the NATIONAL INTEREST in the oil find.

Soon after that, another forum will be held at the University of Ghana to afford students and members of the general public an opportunity to better appreciate the issues.

The third forum has been tentatively fixed for Tamale. Specific dates and venues for these events will be communicated in the coming days.

We wish to take this opportunity to encourage all Ghanaians to stand resolutely behind the GNPC and actively participate in the struggle to ensure that unpatriotic elements do not succeed in persuading the Ghana Government to handing over our oil resources in ways that that would be against the national interest, as they have done for centuries in the mining sectors.
