Workers of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) including its subsidiaries, in Kumasi on the week-end undertook a five-hour fitness walk and aerobic exercises in the city to help offset some of the negative occupational health impacts of their sedentary work lifestyles and to enable them stay healthy.
Amidst brass band music, the participants had a rollicking time as they trekked from their office location at Adum to the military officer’s mess area, where after a rigorous post-walk aerobic exercises, they enjoyed fun games and invigorating drinks made from “Royale” natural cocoa powder.
Dr. Kojo Essel, a Physician specialist and Chief Executive (CE) of Health Essentials, who took them through the aerobic exercises, advised the workers to endeavor to always reduce stress whilst also complementing physical exercises with good diet.
“This would improve your general health and well-being as well increase your longevity”.
He encouraged the COCOBOD staff to spearhead the campaign on the fabulous health benefits of Royale cocoa powder, a flagship product of the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC), by replacing their household beverages and office snacks with the natural product, describing it as a superfood and a fantastic food supplement.
“This would help your entire families derive all the immense health benefits to reduce the huge medical bills and also boost your energy levels as workers to surge productivity levels.”, the Physician added.
Mr. Augustine Webontey Apom, the Ashanti Regional Manager of the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC), said research had proven that the natural cocoa powder apart from its rich anti-oxidant properties, is also full of essential minerals like magnesium, boosts sexual abilities, the immune system and energy levels, as well as improves heart health.
