COPADIB supports development of education in Buem

Jasikan (V/R), Aug. 29, GNA-The Coalition for Peace and Development in Buem (COPADIB), donated 200 bags of cement towards the development of education in some communities in Buem in the Jasikan District in the Volta Region. The beneficiary communities, New Baika, Old Baika and Old Ayoma would be expected to use the building material for the completion of school building projects. Presenting the building materials at Old Baika at the weekend, president of COPADIB, Mr Isaka Buraima, said the gesture formed part of the group's social responsibility to the people in the district. He appealed to government to ensure that the School Feeding Programme covered more educational institutions in the district to enhance school enrolment and to retain children in the classroom. Mr Buraima also appealed to the authorities to ensure that the Millennium Development Authority was used to support development in the district.

Father Cletus Kwame Forson, head master of Father Dogli Memorial Trade School, at New Ayoma, who received the donation on behalf of the communities, commended COPADIB for their contribution to the development of the district.

He urged other organizations; citizens of the district and philanthropists to support development in the district The new District Chief Executive of Jasikan, Mr Bob Charles Agbontoh, who was at the presentation ceremony, said because government considered education as the foundation for development in the country, it was doing everything within its power to improve the sector. He praised COPADIB for working towards peace and development in the district and pledged his support for the group. Mr Agbontoh called on the people to unite and cooperate with COPADIB to move the area forward.
