Accra, Jan. 30, GNA - The Board of the Copyright Society of Ghana (COSGA) on Tuesday informed its members that it had not been consulted in connection with the advertised BUSAC Funded Forum on the operations of Collective Administration Societies to be held on Thursday and asked them to ignore it.
"The COSGA Board directs its members to ignore the ongoing publicity on the proposed forum, which is being organised in bad faith by Messrs Tallal Fatal of Metro TV and Carlos Sakyi with the intention of creating confusion within the Copyright Sector and to undermine the Copyright Society of Ghana," a statement issued by Mr J. K. Larkai, Acting Executive Director, COSGA, said.
The statement said the same group in the past had obtained similar funding and created conditions, which delayed the passage of the Copyright Bill for over five years.
"The Copyright Society of Ghana, which is made up of composers, producers of music, film producers, literally authors, book publishers and other stakeholders is surprised that none of these stakeholders has been consulted in the planning of the forum nor formally invited."
The Copyright Society of Ghana said it took serious exception to the inclusion of its name in the advertisement without reference to it and called on the organisers to forthwith exclude COSGA from the ongoing advertisement on the forum. 30 Jan. 07
