A former First National Vice-Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Madam Anita DeSoso, says she is worried about President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s health and the possibility of him carrying the deadly coronavirus into the country.
She therefore wants the president to be quarantined upon arrival back home from his two-weeks trip abroad. Interestingly, the NDC stalwart would prefer such an exercise is done under the radar so as not to demean Nana Addo and the high office he holds.
“Yes, we must quarantine him but it shouldn’t be made public to embarrass my big brother [President Nana Akufo-Addo],” she said during an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.
Anita DeSoso’s comment comes days after the Member of Parliament for the Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region, Ras Mubarak, wondered if Ghana’s health authorities would quarantine President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after his return from Europe, as part of measures to prevent the possible introduction and spread of the deadly coronavirus in the country.
President Akufo-Addo is currently on a 12-day working visit to Scotland, Norway, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Belgium. He is set to return to Ghana on March 4, 2020.
Incidentally, some of these countries have had reported cases of the COVID 19.
So far, there have been 85,721 cases recorded with 2,933 deaths. The coronavirus COVID-19 has affected 61 countries and territories around the world.
