CPP Chairman appeals to the youth to be selfless

Kumasi, Jan. 30, GNA- Dr Edmund Delle, National Chairman of the CPP has called on the youth to be selfless, modest and prepare to sacrifice their lives and resources to build Ghana into a prosperous nation.

He said the future of Ghana depended more on the youth and challenged them to bring their resources to bear on the country's quest for speedy development.

Dr Delle made the call at the inauguration of the Kumasi Polytechnic campus branch of the CPP in Kumasi, on Friday.

He debunked the notion that, the CPP was made up of old men and women and said the party had faith and believed in the capabilities of the Ghanaian youth and urged them to learn hard to acquire knowledge that would enable them contribute meaningfully to nation building. He said the crazy for foreign goods in the Ghanaian society was as a result of colonial mentality, adding that, Ghanaians should be able to eat what they grow.

Dr Delle stated that, the CPP when elected into office, would support and encourage indigenous entrepreneurship in the country and urged Ghanaians to be proud of their own indigenous products to enable the local industries to grow and expand.

He deplored the confrontational postures being exhibited by the NPP and NDC and said the CPP was a party of peace and would not engage in any unnecessary confrontation that could derail the country's democratic process.

Dr Delle urged members of the party on campus to be disciplined law abiding and work hard to market the ideals and ideas of the founder of the party, to enable the party win the 2004 elections. Mr Riley Poku, an elder of the party, who chaired the function, debunked the notion that, the CPP was dead.

He said CPP was the only party in the country that had the tools and know how to manage and save the country from poverty. Mr Poku urged members of the party to educate the electorate to embrace the ideals of the CPP, which was wealth creation, to enable the party win the next general elections.

A 10-member executive of the K-Poly branch of the party, chaired by Mr Theophilous Addo, was sworn into office by Dr Delle.
