CPP’s disqualified presidential aspirant, Dr Onzy Nathan Nkrumah has secured a court injunction against the party’s Congress slated for Saturday, January 30, 2016.

The son of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, was barred from taking part in the contest – reason was as a result of a dud cheque to pay for his nomination forms.

Onzy Nkrumah after his disqualification accused the party of corruption and noted that his sister who is also the leader of the party is ‘destroying’ the CPP with her autocratic rules - adding that, he was thrown out of the race without justifiable reason.

“The leadership of the CPP has taken issues into their own hands, and I won’t sit down for them to treat me that way, hence my decision to drag the party to court. If they hold the Congress then it will be illegal,” he said in an interview with Adom FM.

Dr Onzy Nathan Nkrumah said he is seeking an order for a declaration that his inability to file his presidential nomination forms was wrongfully caused by the party.

He wants the court to compel the party to accept his nomination fee and to allow him to contest the presidential primaries at an extended date beyond six weeks from the filing of nominations.
