CPP Flag bearer outdoors "unity tour" in Tamale

Tamale (N/R), June 23, GNA- Doctor Paa kwesi Nduom, Flag bearer of the Convention Peoples' Party (CPP) at the weekend called on members and supporters of the party to unite and present a formidable front for this year's presidential and parliamentary elections.

Making public what he termed; a "Unity Tour" in Tamale in the Northern Region, he told party regional executives, constituency chairmen and parliamentary aspirants, that Ghanaians were looking to the CPP as the alternative to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but not just for change sake.

"Ghanaians like the CPP's message of Change Ghanaians can feel in their pockets.. Therefore, the Party should not miss this great opportunity to attract support and win power in 2008", he said as part of his tour of the Northern Region.

Dr Nduom declared that he had forgiven "all those who have spoken and acted in different ways against him in the past few weeks", saying, "To err is human".

" The CPP is a human organization and as such people will make mistakes. All political parties have their challenging times. "The NDC has had people leave to form other parties. The NPP has faced resignations and big problems during its presidential and parliamentary primaries. But the CPP is a Party of peace and unity and is expected to come and bring Ghanaians together and build a nation that recognizes excellence and one's contribution and not religious or ethnic origin".

Dr. Nduom asked everyone to put recent minor challenges aside and work to prove to Ghanaians that the CPP was ready to manage the affairs of Ghana.

The CPP Flag bearer met the executives of the Greater Accra Region on June 13, Eastern Region on Thursday, June 19 and the Brong Ahafo Region on Friday, June 20 to appeal to them to work together and unite their members for the common objective of winning the 2008 election.

He briefed them on efforts being made by the Council of Elders and the National Executives to solve disciplinary problems that have cropped up recently in the Party.

Dr. Nduom is expected to carry his "Unity Tour" to the rest of the regions in the next two weeks. He will also meet the National Executives and interest groups in the Party on Tuesday, June 24 to pursue the Unity agenda.

On Saturday, June 28, a Second Quarter Campaign Review will be held to examine the national CPP campaign and chart the course for the Third Quarter. 23 June 08
