CPP Is Dead – Dan Lartey

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has lost its credibility and cannot win any elections in 2004, the Leader of the Great Consolidated People’s Party, Dan Lartey has said. ''The CPP is dead. What have they been able to do after the last election?

Mr Dan Lartey was speaking in an interview with ''The Evening News''. He said during the recent six by-elections held in the country, the CPP could not even field one candidate. ''Again no one hears about them, there’s no activity.''

According to the GCPP Leader, the party fielded 86 candidates and only one candidate won a seat during the last elections. ''That’s why I’m saying that the CPP is dead. The CPP has no light, neither has it got life. What they have are problems here and there''.

He said the CPP seemed not to have learnt any lessons at all since elections were held in 2002. He contended that the Leader of the CPP, Prof George Hagan has been given an appointment by the NPP government hence his inertia.

Mr Lartey stressed that unless his domestication policy became the cog of the wheels of the Nkrumahist family, the party cannot win the elections in 2004. He noted that all parties in the Nkrumahist family have agreed that the GCPP has solutions to the woes of the family and the destiny of the nation.
