CPP Reborn

The National Convention Party, NCP, and the PeopleAEs Convention Party, PCP, have merged into tone party called the Convention PeopleAEs Party, CPP.

Announcing the merger at a news conference in Accra on the 29th of January, the Interim Chairman of the new party, Alhaji Asuma Banda, said the symbol of the party shall the traditional CPP symbol, the Red Cockerel with the motto: oForward with the Peopleoe. In a nostalgic speech, Alhaji Banda appealed to all supporters, sympathisers and well wishers to unite to make the rebirth of the CPP a reality. He urged them rally strongly behind the CPP to ensure a resounding victory in this yearAEs presidential and parliamentary elections.

Alhaji Banda said the new CPP is inspired by the exemplary leadership qualities of the late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, GhanaAE first President and founder of CPP. The assured the partyAEs supporters that they will continue the vision and achievementAEs of the torch bearer of AfricaAEs liberation struggle, Osagyefo Dr. Nkrumah in Ghana and Africa as a whole. Present at the ceremony was the embattled and highly controversial vice-president, Mr Kow Nkensen Arkaah, who was assaulted by President Rawlings at a cabinet meeting on 28th December, 1995.
