CPP Reinstates Kabila

The Central Committee of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), on Wednesday, reinstated two interdicted national officers. They are Mr Ivor Greenstreet, General Secretary and Mr James Kwabena Bomfeh (aka Kabila) National Youth Organiser.

Mr Ladi Nylander, CPP Chairman told a press conference in Accra that: "The two officers, who were asked to step aside for disciplinary investigations into their conduct, have been reinstated".

The press conference on the theme: "How CPP Will Do It - Health Sector Policy," was attended by the reinstated officers and other leading members of the party.

The CPP Central Committee at an emergency meeting on August 12, 2010 referred the conduct of Mr Greenstreet and Mr Bomfeh to the party's disciplinary committee to answer charges for acts deemed to have brought the image of the party into disrepute contrary to Article 77 (a) (ii) of the party's constitution.

The party claimed that: "Their interdiction was to assert the authority vested in the Chairman of the party as the ultimate spokesperson and representative of the party superseding all other members in all matters."

It cautioned all members of the CPP that the Central Committee would not countenance any challenge to the authority of the Chairman and the Leadership outside laid down internal procedures of discussion and debate in appropriate forums within the party.

Mr Nylander, however, failed to answer questions on the outcome of the investigations stressing: "What is important is that the two have been reinstated."
