The Western Regional branch Chairman of the CPP Council of Elders, Comrade Kwamena Baffoe has said the party remains the only hope for the country’s future economic prosperity.
He said with the failure of the governments that have managed the economy since 1992 to address the social concerns of the people, the CPP which he described as laying the foundation for the nation remains the most credible political organisation to restore hope to the people and reshape the economy.
Comrade Baffoe, who said this in an interview said the CPP has the panacea for breathing new life into the economy and providing the masses with opportunities that would enable them to lead meaningful and dignified lives in the future.
He described as ironical, the situation, where all assets bequeathed to successive governments have either collapsed or been divested due to mismanagement and mal-administration.
This, development, he said has led to redundancies of workers and the distortion of the social system of the country. He said the CPP envisaged to create full employment by the establishment of industries which could use local raw materials for their production throughout the nation but regretted that “all these veritable assets have been destroyed to the detriment of the broad masses of the people.
He said the time has come for Nkrumaists, who due to circumstances found themselves either with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to join the CPP in its bid to win political power in the 2004 polls.
“I implore people who are supporters and sympathisers of the Nkrumaist tradition to within the shortest practicable time visit the various offices of the CPP to register as members of the party and be given registration cards,” he said.
Comrade Baffoe called on activists of the party to redouble their efforts to encourage more people, especially those who since the last elections reached the age of 18 to register with the party. He also called for team work to help the party in its efforts to win power and form the next government in 2005.
Comrade Baffoe called on the constituency and regional branch executives to work hard in the coming months to ensure a massive victory for the party in the next parliamentary and presidential elections
