CPP calls on Ghanaians to remember the essence of Nkrumah’s struggle

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has called on Ghanaians to remember the essence of the struggle for freedom and self-determination by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as they celebrate his 103 birthday as founder of the Nation.

A statement issued in Accra on Friday by Nii Armah Akomfrah, Director of Communications of CPP, said that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s philosophy and ideology had living roots in Ghanaian life and Ghanaian society today.

It said the equal treatment of all religions in the nation he founded, the equality of all human beings whether Christian, Moslem or Traditionalist, the principle of human and ethnic equality, should be upheld.

The statement noted that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah led the CPP in the anti-colonial struggle of liberation, unity and development of Ghana and Africa with a clear ideological vision and programmes to build Ghana, within a liberated, united and democratic Africa, and into a vibrant economic power.

The party urged the youth to re-dedicate themselves to the struggle for economic liberation of Ghana and the continent.

It said to mark the occasion the CPP had organised a “Day of Action”- taking the party’s “Ghana Must Work Again” message to the community, as part of the CPP’s community-based campaign.
