A taxi driver, Stephen Amankwa Okyere of Mampong in the Ashanti Region, has had his penis, testicles and tongue hacked off during a horrifying attack at a farming community in the mountainous area.
A week after he had gone missing, the victim’s mutilated body was found lying in a bush near a cocoa plantation at Nintin – a community located at an elevation of 456 metres above sea level which is close to Mampong.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo, who speaks for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, said a pathologist who went to the scene with a team of police officers reported that Mr. Okyere, 34, died of ‘strangulation’ and ‘body mutilation’.
According to him, wife of the deceased, Madam Amoanimaa Dede, on Monday, January 7, 2019, reported the missing of her husband to the Mampong Divisional Police Command.
ASP Ahianyo narrated that Mr. Okyere left home with his Nissan taxi cab with registration number AC 1205-17 and never returned.
He said a search on the day to locate the victim proved unsuccessful. He added that on January 15, 2019, police had information that the lifeless body of Amankwaa Okyere was lying in a bush near a cocoa plantation at Nintin, which they quickly acted upon and found the information to be true.
He called on the general public to assist the police in arresting culprits behind the heinous crime and retrieve the car.
