Cadres urged to support Mills administration

Agona (Ash), June 5, GNA - Mr Ahmed Iddrisu, Secretary to the Ashanti Regional United Cadres Front, has urged members to re-organize and support the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to succeed. "We should avoid divisions, in-fighting, accusations and other negative attitudes and rally solidly behind the Mills Administration and the party to deliver on its campaign promises".

Mr Iddrisu was addressing fellow cadres after they had planted over 400 tree seedlings at Afamanaso and Boanim in the Sekyere South District to mark the 31st Celebration of the June 4 Uprising which brought Flt. Lt Jerry John Rawlings to power in 1979.

The seedlings which were planted on school compounds and clinics were not only for beautification but to serve as wind brakes in those areas which had experienced heavy rainstorms recently. The Regional Secretary said the pillars on which the uprising which was human centred, was built were probity and accountability, especially at the workplaces. Mr Edward Kusi Ayarkwa, the Sekyere South District Chief Executive (DCE) said cadres had a lot to offer to the ruling government if they eschewed back-biting and nonchalant attitudes. He advised them to remain united and re-kindle their dormant hearts and work hard for the government to overcome the numerous challenges facing the nation. The DCE said it was time Ghanaians appreciated the efforts of the government to put the nation's economy on a sound footing for development. Warrant Officer Moro Salifu (Retired), a member of the United Cadres Front said the uprising was God-sent. He said there was the need for Ghanaians to thank God for it and pray that He guides the political leaders to lead the country in a selfless and truthful manner. 5 June 10
