Calls for withdrawal of minister ridiculous - BBG

We of the Believers In Better Ghana (BBG) have come across a newspaper publication which suggests that the President Mills withdraws Mrs. Zita Okaikoi as Minister of Information, we find this suggestion ridiculous and unfounded coming from people who are yet to see through the vision of the better Ghana agenda of the NDC.

The BBG having monitored the work of the Information Minister and her two deputies wish to applaud them for their tremendous work within this short period in dealing with the vile propaganda of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and commend the President for making the right choice. On the Information Minister, we are of the opinion that the Minister has so far proven that she goes beyond mere talk to action since to our best of knowledge she is the only Minister of Information that has shown on a consistent basis her desire to ensure that the Freedom of Information Bill is passed within the shortest possible time.

How many Former Information Ministers displayed such hastiness in helping pass such a bill, to our best of knowledge we were in this country when there was a clandestine plot to introduce a bill on defamation which would have taken Ghanaian journalists many steps back.

In addition, Mrs. Okaikoi is currently using her outfit to source for funds to help organize training and capacity building workshops for both private and public media practitioners in the country.

Since her assumption in office the Minister of Information has reacted in a truthful manner issues that has got to do with government but perhaps the point many people are missing is the fact that she is determined to give the true meaning to the Information Ministry and not a Propaganda Ministry as has been the case in recent past.

We have observed keenly the fact that sections of Ghanaians seem not to understand the dynamic style of leadership being exhibited by this government in ensuring that all people in government perform their role well to ensure the success of the government. President Mills has so far given more opportunities to Vice President John Mahama than the previous administration and we are optimistic its in this same direction that the current Minister of Information is given her two deputies the opportunity to also contribute to information dissemination in the country.

The BBG wishes to commend the President for given both the Information Minister and her two deputies the opportunity to serve the nation and move information dissemination to the level where truth shall always be the ultimate victor.
