Canada To Sponsor Third Project At Gomoa Denkyira

Gomoa Denkyira (Central Region), 12 Jan.,

The Canadian High Commission has decided to fund the construction of a 20 million-cedi market for the people of Gomoa Denkyira in the Central Region. The decision is in appreciation of the citizens' remarkable achievement in completing two school projects sponsored by the High Commission within 14 months. The High Commissioner, Mr.. John Schram, announced this on Saturday at the commissioning of a three-classroomed block for Denkyira Presbyterian Primary School. The first project, another three-classroomed block with an office, store, common room and toilets, was commissioned in April, last year, for the same school. Nearly 68 million cedis was spent by the High Commission on the two projects. Mr.. Schram said the Denkyira School Project proves once again that real progress can come through co-operation between the community, district assembly and the central government. He said though it is the policy of the High Commission to spread its support through all districts, it has seen the need to focus on and reward comunities which have proved that they can help themselves. "Where people are enthusiastic, know what they want and what they are doing when they are ready to do the work, and where they have committed chiefs, elders, assembly members and members of parliament and district chief executives to lead them, Canada should be there too".
