Canadian Independent College (CIC) Ghana, has held its 9th graduation ceremony with a call on students to utilize the knowledge that they have acquired from the walls of CIC.
Speaking at the event in Accra, Chairperson, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Ms Josephine Nkrumah, who delivered the keynote address advised the graduands to focus more on their character than the riches of life, she said this will be the key to their success because a person with integrity commands a higher respect than a person who lacks integrity in the society.
She urged the graduands to see their life as a process because their dreams and aspirations could change at any a point in life therefore they should be ready to embrace change when such days befall them.
She called on Ghanaians abroad to regularly visit home and support the building of our nation because this is our mother Ghana.
A former Member of Parliament for Adentan, Hon Opare Hammond, who stood in for the second lady of the republic of Ghana, Mrs Samira Bawumia advice the youth to be fashionable with God and also desist from immoral practices.
Meanwhile the Director of Canadian Independent College (CIC), Mr. Andrews Stephen also expressed his profound gratitude to parents for providing enormous supports to their children throughout their days at CIC and encouraged them to continue with such good deed as their children further their education at the tertiary level.
Pre-tertiary programme
Twenty one students who had completed the pre-tertiary programme at the school graduated at the event.
The school, which has both primary and secondary sections, was established in 2008.
It uses the Canadian province of Ontario curriculum and it was the first school in sub-Saharan Africa licensed and certified to use a Canadian curriculum.
School’s curriculum
The Principal of the school, Mrs. Attakora-Gyan said the school’s curriculum was designed to empower students to develop a strong foundation in critical, analytical and creative thinking.
For his part, the Director in charge of Private Secondary Schools at the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Samuel Otopah Ntow, advised the students to be committed to their education at the tertiary level and not indulge in lifestyles that would inhibit their progress.
