The Canadian Security intelligence was not part of the operations to rescue the two abducted Canadian girls in Kumasi, according to the Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper.

"They were concerned . . . but the truth is that to a large extent, it was a Ghanaian rescue operation. We hope such things will not reoccur,” he said while contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’.

Kweku Baako further indicated that “if I hear people create the impression that kidnapping is a new phenomenon is worrying, but that is not the case” adding, “we need to strengthen our security agencies to be up and doing and also educate Ghanaians to be security alert and then hope for the best”.

The two Canadians who were kidnapped about a week ago were rescued in the early hours of Wednesday, 12th June 2019, rescued in the Ashanti Region.
