Capacity Building Workshop for Medical Doctors opens

Accra, Feb 16, GNA - A five-day capacity building workshop for medical doctors about the use of Ultrasound Scanner equipment for diagnosing various degree of ailments began on Monday at the Cocoa Clinic in Accra.

Fifty medical doctors from all over the country are attending the workshop, which aims at offering the participants technical knowledge about the appropriate use of Ultrasound Scanners to improve on health care delivery.

The workshop, jointly organised by KF Medical Limited, a company dealing in the distribution and installation of medical equipment as well as technical training of medical personnel, and B-K Medical, a leading Ultrasound manufacturing company in Denmark. Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) is sponsoring it.

Addressing the participants at the opening session of the workshop, Mr Wisdom Kpoor, Managing Director of KF Medical Limited, said the dynamic nature of world technology was a challenge for doctors and health professionals in Africa to constantly update their knowledge to meet the needs of the society.

He said to ensure improvement in the health care delivery system in the country; KF Medical had designed a special package aimed at making the acquisition and use of Ultrasound Scanners available to all medical doctors to ease their burden in diagnosis.

Mr Kpoor said KF Medical in collaboration with LEASEAFRIC, a leasing company, was selling Ultrasound Scanners to medical doctors and health institutions on credit basis with a minimum deposit of 20 per cent of the cost of the equipment.

He said KF Medical was establishing Ultrasound Education Centre to train medical doctors on the use of Ultrasound Scanners and asked them to avail themselves of the opportunity. Dr Bjorn Skoldbye, a Surgeon from Harlev University Hospital is the resource person at the workshop.
