Cape Coast NPP constituency holds elections

Cape Coast, Feb. 20, GNA - Mr Frank Hutchful, a businessman, was on Saturday elected Chairman of the Cape Coast Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Hutchful, who polled 69 out of the 109 votes cast, at a delegates' congress, said the NPP could lead Ghana into a "bright future" and transform the country into a paradise because it had "better human resource to deliver".

He appealed to the rank and file to remain solidly behind the party to enable it to win the 2008 general elections. Mr Hutchful, who thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised to live up to expectation called for the cooperation of the contestants who lost.

Madam Hawa Yakubu, National First Vice-Chair Person, expressed her appreciation about the way the elections were conducted and commended the delegates and supporters. She urged the executives to involve the defeated candidates in their activities to foster unity.

Mr Joseph Sam and Joseph Cann were elected 1st and 2nd Vice-Chairmen respectively, Mr Muntala Mohammed, Secretary and Mrs Babara Ayisi, Assistant Secretary.

Mr Edwin Buckman is the, Youth Organiser, Baba Issah, Organiser, James Biney, Treasurer and Hajia Tanko, Women's Organiser. Mr Lord Commey, National Organiser and Ms Rita Asobayire, National Women's Organiser also addressed the congress. 20 Feb 2006
