Cape Coast experiences petrol shortage

Cape Coast, Dec. 7, GNA - Many fuel filling stations in the Cape Coast municipality have for the past one week not received their supplies from the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) resulting in a shortage of the commodity.

The Ghana News Agency found during a visit to some filling stations that although the stations had diesel they had no petrol. At the Buela-lane Goil filling station Mr Alfred Ekuful said there was diesel but no petrol and that the last time the station received its supply of petrol was about a week ago.

At the Total filling station at Bakaano the story was not different and Mr Emmanuel Johnson, the Assistant Manager, said the last time his station received petrol was on December 2.

He said almost all the filling stations, except his, were also short of kerosene, resulting in a long queue.

Ms Mercy Johnson, a staff at the Chapel Square Total filling station, said the station did not have either petrol or diesel. Officials at the filling stations appealed to TOR to speed up their supply and said people were accusing them of hoarding the fuel although their supplies had been delayed.
