Mr Carl Wilson, a close associate of the late David Lamptey, bank roller of National Democratic Congress (NDC), says he has incriminating evidence that Mr Lamptey was murdered and wants the government to investigate.
He told Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra on Tuesday that two years after the death of the business tycoon, he is wondering why there has not been any concrete move by the security agencies to investigate the death despite all the hints about a possible foul play?
“Why the deafening silence despite all the hints his family gave at a news conference about the possible cause of his death?” he asked.
Mr Wilson said: “I dare government to act on all the hints about Mr Lamptey’s death including events leading to his murder-what happened on his last trip to London? Why did he collapse and was presumed to have suffered a stroke and why was he not taken to hospital on that fateful night of December 1, when he attempted to rushed out gasping for breath and collapsed at the door?”
“There is the need for an investigation into the death itself, the alleged conspiracy, the coroner’s report instead of autopsy, the alleged fake will and the one sided family settlement involving his estate.”
He said the long silence as far as the aftermath of Mr Lamptey’s questionable death is concerned is not too good, and is a travesty of justice for the man who was instrumental in ensuring the victory of the NDC in 2012 and his personal and close relationship with the late President Professor John Evans Mills.
“I am ready to share the initial stage of the criminal report and those who were invited to the Homicide Division at the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters. I also have revealing laboratory test about his deteriorating health leading to his death.
The death certificate of Mr Lamptey said he died at 37 Military Hospital from hypertensive heart disease with nephropathy and to Mr Wilson his death saga from good health through illness took an incredible period of 10 days.
