Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has extolled Mr Carlos Ahenkorah, for what he described as displaying a high sense of honesty.

According to him, the fact that the Tema West MP wasn’t scared to admit that he has tested positive for COVID-19 regardless of the circumstances he found himself, is worth the praise.

Kwesi Pratt who spoke during PeaceFM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ morning show said although Carlos did not act right, he has proven that some leaders still speak the truth.

This, according to him, is very rare because most leaders go the extra mile to deny their wrong deeds even when caught red-handed.

“Carlos did not act well. But even in such circumstances, he spoke the truth. That is something we should learn from. When leaders are even caught red-handed, they move heaven and earth to deny it. He has proven to us that some leaders still speak the truth which is very rare among leaders. When they are being recorded on tape, they tell you the tape is doctored,” he stated.

Background

The former Deputy Minister decided to breach the COVID-19 protocols when he visited a registration centre in his constituency before his self-isolation period.

Mr. Ahenkorah in an interview on Eyewitness News, July 2, mounted a spirited defence for his action. He insisted he did not err because he was cautious during his stay at the registration centres.

“Yes, I have COVID-19 but on the first day of the registration, there was a problem at one of the centres. But knowing my status that I am asymptomatic, I visited only one centre to check on the issue. I never got in the midst of people," he said.

"I drove in my car and got there, got down and spoke far away with the EC officer who explained the issue to me. I told her I will report this to their boss and then I just left. I was very careful. It is important for people like us to know their status because whether you like it not, we will go into the midst of people."

"I spent a night at Korle-Bu to be checked on by the experts at the Isolation Center. My doctor took my samples and asked me to go into self-isolation which I have been since last week."
