Cars for State Attorneys

Accra, Sept. 18, GNA - The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General on Friday took delivery of 26 Toyota corolla saloon cars at a cost of GHC 976,989 from Toyota Ghana Limited (TGL) in Accra.

The vehicles, which cost GHC 37, 576.50 per unit, would be sold on high purchase to state attorneys at the Ministry, with payments spread over a period of eight-year.

Mr Ebo Barton-Odro, Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, who received the keys to the cars, announced that the Ministry was also setting up a revolving fund to enable more staffs of the Ministry to purchase their own vehicles.

He said it was the mission of the Attorney General and Minster of Justice to ensure that the Ministry became one of the best and to deliver justice to all Ghanaians.

He said though the task being put on the shoulders of the Department was odious, the attrition rate of members of staff was also very high.

Mr Barton-Odro also commended TGL for delivering the cars on time and urged the company to grant concessionary terms to the Ministry so that more of such arrangements can be made in future.

Mr Masato Kimata, Managing Director of TGL expressed his happiness for the selection of the company, based on fair judgment, to supply the cars to the Ministry.

He said the TGL had always aimed at presenting its customers with the best of driving quality cars, saying that, the Toyota Corolla 1.8 litre sedan was among the best in its category with a low running cost.
