Catechist decries global unrest

Adwumakase-Kese (Ash), Jan 17, GNA- Mr Alex Ahwoi, Catechist of the Oda-Kokwaaso branch of Harris Church in the Eastern Region, had decried the increasing political crises in the world, which he said was leading to the loss of lives and property.
He appealed to Christians to be committed to God to help minimise these tragic incidents .
Mr Ahwoi was speaking during the induction Of a 36-year-old Bishop, Yaw Asare to the Kwabre District Branch of the Church in the Ashanti Region on Sunday. He urged Christians to pray unceasingly to help minimise the alarming rate of social vices such as alcoholism, teenage pregnancy and the scourge of HIV/AIDS in society.
Bishop Asare, succeeded the late Bishop Kofi Asante, who died in 1997.
The induction ceremony also coincided with the 36th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Church in Ghana. Pastor Beggi Kio Hyaclnthe, Assistant Bishop of the church in La Cote d'Ivoire, performed the induction ceremony.
Pastor Dogbe Jules, General Secretary of the Church in La Cote d'Ivoire, expressed dissatisfaction about the political crisis in Cote d'Ivoire over the past three years and appealed to Ghanaians to pray for peace and stability for the neighbouring country.
Bishop Asare pledged to work hard to raise the status of the Church and asked members to give him the needed support. He announced plans by the local mission to establish schools and hospitals.
