Aflao, Jan. 19, GNA - Seidu Fulani, a herdsman, was on Monday jailed four years in hard labour by a circuit court at Aflao for stealing two cows. He pleaded guilty.
Mr Pius Cudjoe, Chief Inspector of Police at Akatsi told the Court presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah that on January 9, this year one Livingstone Agbenoxevi, detected the loss of a cow worth about 3 million cedis from his kraal at Logove in the Akatsi District.
He said about a week later on January 14, Fulani, who lived in a nearby village was spotted with a cow ostensibly negotiating with a taxi driver for it be conveyed to a destination.
Mr Cudjoe said on detecting that the villagers had seen him, Fulani absconded leaving the cow behind.
He said the unsuspecting taxi driver who knew Fulani led his pursuers to his house where he was arrested. Mr Cudjoe said Fulani admitted stealing the cow from Mr Agbenoxevi's kraal and also confessed that he together with one Yahaya had stolen a cow from the same kraal earlier and sold it to one Blackie at Akatsi.
He said the police were looking for Yahaya and Blackie who were on the run Meanwhile Kwabla Seglah 24, a farmer who took advantage of a colleague farmer's absence, and broke into his room and stole 300,000 cedis, was on Monday jailed 18 months by the same court. He pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Mr Pius Cudjoe, Chief Inspector of Police at Akatsi told the Court presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah that the complainant and Seglah both lived at Gefia-Kpota in the Akatsi District. He said while returning from his farm on January 6, this year, the complainant saw Seglah emerge from his room and took to his heels on seeing him.
Mr Cudjoe said Seglah who was arrested the following day at Akatsi admitted the offence when interrogated.
