Investigators from the Ghana National Fire Service are still trying to find out the actual cause of a fire outbreak at the Avenor branch warehouse of Ashfoam which started around 8pm on Monday April 10.

According to the District Commander of Ghana National Fire Service for the Industrial area, Osmond Annum, personnel are still on the grounds to ascertain the cause of the fire as they struggled to quench it because of the foams.

The fire which occurred at the Curing department lasted for two hours as some products and roofing got destroyed but luckily stores and other departments were not affected.

The Curing department is a foam farm place where foams are kept to be cured by going through quality control testing to ascertain the proper densities before it gets to the market for sale.

However, the Marketing Communications Manager of Ashfoam, Joe Ampem-Darko has assured Ghanaians to remain calm and not be alarmed by the fire as it is alleged workers will be laid off.

Speaking to the media, he guaranteed that workers won’t be laid off and business is still operational.

According to him, workers are still on the grounds working and those whose department got affected have been distributed to other departments to work until investigations are over.

So far no casualties have been recorded.
