Cape Coast, Oct.4, GNA - The new Central Regional Police Commander, ACP Akayire Kamparah on Thursday said his outfit has identified 53 flash points out of the 1,763 polling stations in the region, and was therefore putting adequate measures in place to strengthen security before, during and after the December general elections. Consequently, a regional election security taskforce has been established under the leadership of ACP Kamparah to help facilitate a peaceful and incident free-election, by beefing up security at those flash points and constantly monitoring the situation there to forestall violence. The Regional Commander who made this known during a maiden meeting with media personnel, to interact and familiarize with them, pointed out that the over 2,500 police personnel in the region will receive support from the other security agencies to help maintain law and order, since few pockets of violence were being anticipated. He advised party faithfuls, supporters and sympathizers to comport themselves, and also go by the rules set by the police in respect of permit for political rallies, which would be on first come first serve basis. The Regional Commander also used the occasion to meet district and divisional commanders of police in the region, who were also introduced to the media.
