Central Regional Hospital appeals for assistance to expand library

Cape Coast, Nov 10, GNA - The Medical Administrator of the Central Regional Hospital, Dr Martin Morna, on Monday appealed to organisations and philanthropists to assist the hospital to expand its library to help speed up the process of upgrading it into a teaching hospital. He said the expansion of the library and the provision of equipment like more computers would facilitate its being hooked to the Internet to make research easier.

Dr. Morna made the appeal when he received two computers, books and some hospital equipment from Mr George Williams, a representative of the ''Oguaa Akoto Association'', citizens of Cape Coast resident in the Washington metropolitan area in the United States.

The items, donated by the association and worth 150 million cedis, include two other computers for the Cape Coast District hospital and medical equipment like stethoscopes, weighing scales, centrifuge, surgical gloves and children's blankets.

Dr. Morna thanked the donors and said the hospital needed further assistance in the area of personnel.

During the presentation of the items for the District Hospital, Dr. Sampson Kow Dadzie, the medical superintendent in charge who received them, expressed gratitude for the donation.

Mr. Williams told newsmen that this is the second time the association had donated items to the two hospitals.
