Dantata Universal Services Nigeria Ltd. (DUS) in partnership with VFS Global, an outsourcing and technology services specialist for governments and diplomatic missions worldwide, have opened a centre in Accra to offer enrolment services for Nigerians residing in Ghana wishing to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN).

The opening of the centre, according to DUS and VFS Global, forms part of efforts to support the initiative by Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), to enroll Nigerian adults and children in the diaspora into the country’s National Identity Database (NIDB).

Opened last August, the centre is located on the first floor of Atlantic Tower, opposite Marina Mall at Accra’s Airport City.

Appointments can be obtained beforehand online for the National Identification Number enrolment and subsequent issuance of General Multi-Purpose Card (GMPC) to eligible Nigerian citizens.

A dedicated contact centre and email support services are also available for applicants to answer queries and track the status of their applications.

The NIN is a unique set of 11 digits issued to Nigerian citizens in the diaspora

It is used for processing all forms of transactions that require identity verification such as the issuance of driving license, international passports and opening of bank accounts.

Mr. Jiten Vyas, VFS Global’s Regional Group COO, said the launch of the new NIN enrolment centre in Accra to support the work of Nigeria’s NIMC was a testament to his outfit’s efforts to offer secure and seamless solutions in the identity and citizen services space globally.

“Having successfully implemented such large-scale diaspora enrolment services across the world, including ongoing projects in Africa, we know we have the required competence to implement this latest initiative,” Mr Vyas stated.

With nearly two decades of experience, VFS Global has established itself as a leader in offering solutions in both visa application processing and identity-based citizen services.

Solutions developed by VFS Global in the identity and citizen services space enable governments to focus on the important tasks of decision-making and assessment, by streamlining operations, digitalising processes, increasing cost-efficiency and enhancing customer service.

Having processed over 93 million biometric enrolments since 2007, VFS Global currently serves 38 client governments across 142 countries with its biometric solutions.
