Change attitudes towards patients - District Director of Health

Zambo (U/W), Feb. 24 GNA - Madam Melany Bokuma, Lawra District Director of Health Services has appealed to health workers to endeavour to change the unfriendly attitude they sometimes put up before patients. This behaviour she said did not portray them in positive light as persons working in a caring profession.

She was speaking at the Lawra District celebration of the Ghana Health Service month held at Lawra.

She said of late the district health administration received a number of complaints about the behaviour of some health personnel towards patients, and asked them to be constantly guided by the motto of the Service: "Your Health Our Concern".

Madam Bokuma, therefore, urged all categories of health workers to be friendly and humane towards patients. Three health workers in the district were honoured for their dedication to duty.

They were: Mr John M. Kakraba, who was presented with a mountain bicycle, the Reverend Sister Delphena Zomie had a full piece of wax print and Miss Felicitas Kunwil was given a standing fan. In an address read on behalf of Mr Sylvanus Gangfaa, District Chief Executive, said the assembly had constructed two nurses' quarters at Zambo and Gengenkpe at a total cost of 281.7 million cedis. He said a number of facilities were to be provided under the Social Investment Fund and Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Funds this year at Gbieri and Zbo, in the Zambo Sub-Health District included KVIP toilets, urinals, a clinic and a borehole. 24 Feb. 04
