The Local government service has asked staff of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country, to change their attitude to work and increase productivity.

The Head of Local Government Service, Dr. Nana Attoh Arthur, disclosed that, the service will soon crack the whip and sanction recalcitrant staff who work only three days in a week.

Dr. Nana Attoh Artthur, was speaking at the opening of a training program for Information Technology officers from the MMDAs in the northern, north east, Savannah, upper east and upper west regions.

He said it has come to his notice that, some staff of district Assemblies, leave office by midday on Friday and return around midday on Mondays.

He said the situation does not augur well for the development of the country particularly in the wake of the President’s vision of a Ghana beyond aid.

Nana Attoh Arthur charged coordinating directors to report such recalcitrant staff for sanctions.

A Director at the Human Resource Directorate of the Local Government Service, Peter Essaim Asare, disclosed that, the IT training program, forms part of efforts to build the capacity of local government staff to make them more effective and efficient in delivering their mandate.
