'Changing attitude of Ghanaians is my major obstacle'

President Mahama says changing the attitude of Ghanaians towards nation building is his major obstacle as leader of the country.

He told the CNN that majority of the current generation of Ghanaians don’t seem enthused with breaking ranks with the way things have been done in the past.

President Mahama says it has been difficult for his countrymen and women to buy into his policy of believing in Ghana and assisting in the growth process.

But Mr. Mahama says all hope is not lost adding that with time things will get better.

“It’s difficult…any leadership position is difficult but I guess that with the right support and the buy-in from the people you can make a difference,” President Mahama said.

He added: “I do think that what is difficult is getting people to move out of their comfort zones to change attitudes that they have been used to for a very long time and to get out of a certain inertia to get things moving again.

“And so you might outline a vision but you need a buy-in from the people and getting that buy-in takes quite a lot of work but we are achieving it.

President Mahama added that Ghana is the best place for investment and called on investors to invest in the country without any fear.

“Ghana is still the best destination for investment in Africa…it is stable, it’s peaceful, it’s secure, its people are friendly, we have a good work force and the atmosphere is good”.
