The confusion that has engulfed the Ho central constituency NPP in the past three months still rages on between the constituency chairman and some regional executives.
The confusion sparked off again on Saturday March 29, 2003 when the constituency delegates conference to elect new executives for another three year term was called off a few hours to the scheduled time. This prompted the delegates to convene an emergency meeting in accordance with the party?s constitution to adopt a number of resolutions vowing to resist by all means available to them if the acting regional chairman Kenwuud Nuworsu, the Ho DCE Mautor Goh and the Deputy Regional Minister Samuel Kofi Dzamesi should by subtle means impose Van Seshie Torblu and his cohorts on them as the constituency chairman.
More than two-thirds of the delegates signed and adopted two separate resolutions in accordance with Article 6 (20) of the party?s constitution which stipulates that one-third of constituency delegates? conference can convene an emergency constituency delegate conference to adopt any resolution. The delegates said they have lost confidence in Torblu and his executives whose term of office expired on 23rd March 2003 and as such could not allow them to illegally supervise the nomination and subsequent election of a parliamentary candidate whose nominations opens from April 15 to May 15.
They also warned of forcefully resisting the legitimate polling station executives lists that constitutes the official delegates but however said they have accepted in good faith the suspension of the constituency elections but cautioned the party leadership to conduct a new delegates? conference for them on or before April 12, 2003.
The delegates told Free Press the action taken by them was in accordance with Article 10 of the party?s constitution. The stressed the need for Turblu to stay out of NPP frontline politics because he is an ex-convict saying he was convicted upon his own plea to a fine of ?300,000 or in default three months imprisonment in hard labour therefore his continues chairing the party contravenes the spirit and letters of the 1992 constitution.
They further accused him of flouting with impunity important decisions taken by the constituency congress and frivolously locked up the constituency secretary in the office without any cause.
When free Press called at the constituency office to known what the confusion was at first hand, a letter written and signed by Kenwuud Nuworsu dated March 24, 2003 canceling the conference citing logistic and time constraint as reason for the suspension of the conference was avail to him.
