Officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) caused chaos in Court after they dramatically arrested a client of Lawyer Alexander Afenyo Markins on suspicion of dealing in drugs.

The suspect Halidu Moro was first arrested at the Kotoka International Airport with the sum of 400, 000 dollars he was traveling with confiscated.

Moro filed a suit challenging the confiscation of his money at the Human Rights Court. His application was granted with the court ordering the state to release his money.

However, the issue took a dramatic twist on Wednesday after the man was arrested in court.

The scene turned ugly after his lawyer, Afenyo Markins and Moro's brother attempted to intervene and prevent NACOB officials from picking up the man.

In an interview with Starr News’ Court correspondent Wilberforce Asare, lawyer for Moro, Afenyo Markins said the action by the NACOB officials is disappointing and sad.

“I am so disappointed in the conduct of the NACOB officials, I think that what they have done demonstrates their lack of understanding of the rules that allows all of us to follow due process.

“His money has been confiscated, he has followed due process to get a court to set the confiscation order aside, and you (NACOB) come to court and file a notice of appeal...the man steps out of the court room then you arrest him…I am very disappointed,” the Member of Parliament for Efutu constituency said.
