There was mayhem at Ga Mashie in Accra on Wednesday as some disgruntled youth went about breaking bottles and threatening lives of individuals over the festering chieftaincy dispute in the area.

One of the factions of the Ga state, Abola Piam We, had organised a press conference in the morning to register their displeasure over the installation of Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II as Ga Mantse over the weekend in Accra.

According to them, it was not right for an individual to be picked from Nii Teiko Tsuru We, where Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II hails, to be the chief of Ga Mashie.

However, scores of some youth believed to be from Nii Teiko Tsuru We, besieged the venue with cudgels and bottles to create chaos and prevented the press conference from going ahead.

Some four individuals involved in the disturbances have been arrested by the police. There is also huge police presence in the area to avert an escalation of tensions.

Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was installed as the new Ga chief on Saturday, October 21.

His induction comes barely a week after Nii Tackie Adama Latse II was also inducted into the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs as Ga Mantse.
