The former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei, has showered praises on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II following his four-day visit to Cape Coast for the Oguaa Fetu Afahye.
The Asantehene embarked on the historic visit on Thursday, September 5, 2024, for the festival which also coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Oguaamanhen, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II.
Charlotte Osei, chairperson of this yearโs Oguaa Fetu Afahye planning committee stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on September 7, 2024, that Otumfuo's presence at the event made the celebration iconic.
โYou sure did make our celebration iconic! God bless Asanteman.โ
As the special guest of honour for the festival, the Asantehene was met on his arrival with a grand durbar and welcoming ceremony attended by traditional leaders, government officials, and the people of Oguaa.
As part of the activities, Otumfuo was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree by the University of Cape Coast in recognition of his significant contributions to educational development in the country.
The Oguaa Fetu Afahye is celebrated annually by the people and leaders of Oguaa in the Central Region in September.
The festival is celebrated to commemorate the migration of the Oguaa people from the north to their current location.
