Chemist donates books

Mampong (Ashanti Region) Mr. Kofi Agyarko, a Canada-based chemist and citizen of Asante-Mampong, has donated 1,000 science books and other items worth 10 million cedis to the Saint Paul's Catholic Cathedral at Mampong.

Mr. Agyarko said his gesture was to reciprocate the sound education and spirtual upliftment he received from the local Catholic Church.

The manager of Catholic schools int he Sekyere West District, the Reverend Father Cosmos Osei Amponsah, received the books and commended Mr. Agyarko for the gesture.

Reverend Amponsah noted that the gesture is worthy of emulation and appealed to the congregation to contribute cash or in kind to compliment government's efforts to provide quality education to all Ghanaians.

The chairman of the education committee of the church, Mr. Peter Dickson Adu, assured Mr. Agyarko that the books would be put to judicious use. gri.
