The Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC) of Chia Presbyterian Preparatory School, Nana Owusu Denkyira II, has made an appeal to Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and individuals, especially well-to-do citizens of Chia to support the school.
Nana Owusu Denkyira who is also the Krontihene of Chia, made the appeal through the press when he took newsmen round to inspect the state of the school.
The Chairman revealed that originally the school was a private vocational technical institution but collapsed due to some challenges and was converted to a preparatory school to take care of the educational needs of the children in the town whose parents were predominately farmers.
H said the school currently had a total population of about 230 pupils from nursery to primary class 4, with seven teachers.
The major challenges confronting the school were inadequate school desks, essential reading books, toys or recreational materials for pupils in kindergarten and nursery, and lack of funds to continue a classroom block to take care of the increasing number of pupils.
Nana Owusu Denkyira said when a two-storey classroom block under construction was completed and new classrooms provided on the school’s large tract of land, the current premises would be turned to a vocational school.
That way, he observed, pupils who did not get the chance to enter into senior high schools will get the opportunity to learn employable skills at the vocational school.
