......Kwabena Kwabena to perform at Ghanafest 2016
All roads lead to Chicago's Ghanafest on Saturday July 30, 2016 at Washington Park, 5600 S. Russell Drive in Chicago's Hyde Park (President Obama's) neighborhood and future host to Obama's Presidential library. The annual showcase of Ghanaian culture, music, food and fashion organized by the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago and its affiliate organizations occurs the last Saturday of July each year.
Local Chiefs, Queen Mothers, elders and their entourages will process, various delicious and authentic Ghanaian cuisines will marvel your culinary experience, live music by popular Ghanaian artists will gig the crowd, whilst Kente weavers and Cultural troupes from Ghana will wow the audience. Some of the top Ghanaian musicians featured in the past are Nana Boro and reggae-dancehall musician, Shatawale.
Last year with the help of the Ministry of Tourism, culture and creative arts in Ghana, the attendees included 35 top artists from the music and movie industry, including Osofagus, Ghana's Little Wayne and Chiefs and Queen mothers from Ghana.
This year the Ghana National Council in corroboration with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and creative Arts will exhibit a "Ghana Village", which would feature Kente weavers from both the Ashanti and Northern regions of Ghana, professional arts and crafts producers, fashion designers, and also top musicians all from Ghana. Documentaries on the people of Ghana, the tourism industry and investment opportunities in Ghana will be shown. Ghanafest 2016 will also feature the legendary all time Ghanaian entertainer, Gyedu Blay-Ambolley. Abeiku Aggrey Santana, Ghana's Tourism Ambassador with be on hand to promote Tourism in Ghana.
This year's event will also feature a gospel hour with an expected classic performance from Mega Gospel Artists, Nat Awuni , Chicago; and the Winners Chapel, Minister Nii Addo and Bernice (the fantastic gospel duo from Ohio).
