Accra, Oct. 12, GNA - The Mayor of Accra, Mr Stanley Blankson, is to pay a four-day visit to the United Kingdom from October 18-21 during which he would meet officials of several British departments.
A statement from the British High Commission on Wednesday said Mr Blankson would hold meetings at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Department of Trade and Industry, Department for International Development, BBC World Service, The Commonwealth Secretariat and Transport for London.
The discussions would focus on the environment and the challenges of sustainable socio-economic development facing Accra, it said. Topics for discussion would include the recycling of waste, urban forestry, harnessing community expertise for economic emancipation, sustainable urban development, encouraging non-traditional business assets and efficient mass transport systems in an urban and peri-urban setting.
The Mayor of London, Mr Ken Livingstone, has also invited Mr Blankson to attend the European Local Authorities Forum.
