Chief Justice leaves for Brazil

Accra, May 8 GNA - The Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Wood, leaves Accra on Friday for Brazil to participate in the bicentennial celebration of an independent judiciary of the south American country.

A statement signed by Mr. D.A. Kwapong said the visit was at the invitation of the President of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court, Gilmar Mendes.

It said the visit would be the beginning of an exchange programme for co-operation between the judiciaries of Ghana and Brazil.

Mrs. Justice Wood would deliver the address at one of the conferences on judiciary review titled, "The Practice of Current Constitutionality Control".

The Chief Justice would be accompanied by Mr. Justice Stephen Alan Brobbey, a Supreme Court Judge. She would be away for five days.
