Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has formally requested President Nana Akufo-Addo to nominate Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botchwey, who is currently presiding over the Ato Forson trial, to the Supreme Court.
In addition to Justice Asare Botchwey, Chief Justice Torkornoo has recommended four other esteemed judges for the apex court, myjoyonline.com Joynews reports.
The nominees are Cyra Pamela Koranteng, Edward A. Asante, Eric Kyei Baffour, and Angelina M. Homiah.
Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botchwey has been noted for her role in high-profile cases, including the ongoing trial of Ato Forson.
Her nomination to the Supreme Court is seen as a recognition of her extensive experience and judicial acumen.
