A petition praying the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood to allow a live broadcast of a scheduled cross-examination of businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome by former Attorney General Martin Amidu has been turned down.
A concerned Ghanaian citizen, Richard Asante Yeboah petitioned the Chief Justice following a Supreme Court order granting former Attorney General Martin Amidu the opportunity to cross-examine the man in the center of the controversial GHC51.2m judgement debt saga, Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
However, the Chief Justice in response to the petition says the court cannot allow a live broadcast of the examination because it is not a “normal practice by the judiciary.”
A letter written by Judicial Secretary Justice Alex Poku-Acheampong on her behalf the Chief Justice, reads, “... I have been directed by the honourable Ladyship Chief Justice to inform you that, regrettably she is unable to accede to your request for a live telecast of the above mentioned case as it is not the normal practice by the judiciary."
