Nkwantakese (Ash) Sept 4, A protracted dispute that has for the past seven years virtually divided the people of Nkwantakese, near Kumasi, and crippled its development has now been amicably resolved. Nana Owusu Afriyie II, the Chief and Nana Akua Afriyie II, Queenmother, who were the key actors in the dispute smoked the peace pipe at a ceremony held at Nkwantakese. This followed a joint mediation by the Methodist Church and the Nkwantakese Nkosuo Kuo, a development-oriented society, formed by citizens of the town. They asked people in leadership position to always seek to bring people together to live in peace. The Chief and Queenmother on their part gave the assurance that they have put the past behind them and that they would work towards harnessing resources of the area to improve the living conditions of the people.
