Chief advises residents against TV poles

Agosa (B/A), Dec. 23, GNA - Nana Takyi Abeam, Twafohene of Agosa in Techiman Municipality, has appealed to residents of the area to be careful when erecting television poles.

He said improper erection of TV poles in the municipality posed a threat to life and property. Nana Takyi Abeam told the GNA in an interview that improper erection o= f the poles disrupted transmission as they collapsed on the electricity cable= s whenever it rained.

He recounted a recent incident in the municipality which claimed the life of a school child after he had stepped on a fallen electricity cable caused by a collapsed TV pole. Nana Abeam noted the danger associated with the use of bamboos and woo= d lumber as TV poles in the municipality and advised residents to adopt in-door TV antenna.

He appealed to Brong-Ahafo Regional Office of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to extend satellite transmission to Techiman to enable residents to receive TV signals without mounting poles. The chief also called on the Electricity Company of Ghana to surcharge people whose TV poles might cause disruption in electricity transmission.
