Police in the Western Region have arrested a Chief for causing mayhem at a funeral ground.

A 14 seconds video footage showed Chief Nana Ewiamanle of Akwidaa, a fishing and farming community in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region, on Saturday stormed the funeral venue with a knife in an attempt to demand respect for his authority from a bereaved family.

Chief, Nana Ewiamanle, who is also an employee of Ghana COCOBOD, had expressed dissatisfaction over the bereaved family’s refusal to recognise his Linguist whom he had delegated to the funeral as custom demands.

Chieftaincy disputes are not uncommon in most part of Ghanaa and hence most chiefs faces rejections among subjects.

And according to the chief, it was the refusal of the bereaved family to recognise his authority that caused him to rush to the funeral grounds to question the family for disregarding his authority, a move that sparked a brawl.

In the 14 seconds video posted below, the Chief, clad in a red cloth, can be seen angrily throwing punches at some members of the bereaved family.

He however explains he wielded the knife in self-defence.
