Pramso (Ash), Feb 7, GNA- Nana Owusu Bempah, chief of Pramso in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region, has expressed concern about the increasing spate of drug abuse among the youth in the area, especially Pramso, in recent times. He said the security and socio-economic development of the area was been adversely affected, following criminal activities and other social vices by drug addicts. Nana Bempah, who was speaking at a durbar of the chiefs and people of Pramso at the weekend, therefore, appealed to the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to flush out the miscreants in the districts. He noted that, "Residents fear to go out at night and are virtually kept hostage for fear of falling victim to the criminals ". Nana Bempah urged the people of Pramso both home and abroad to contribute in cash or kind towards the development of the town. He said: "I am not happy about the apathy exhibited by residents towards the town's upliftment", adding that there was the need for a change of attitude, if the town was to be developed to an appreciable standard.
Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma, called on Ghanaians to support government's policies and not to politicise them towards national development. He said the District Assembly would always liaise with traditional councils to ensure that development projects were carried out in the area. An appeal for funds for drilling of boreholes in the town yielded 16 million cedis.
